How 'bout that
On this day they say I was born
I took my first breath, late one morn.
I grew up during some national trouble & strife
oblivious to it, in my, quiet suburban life.
A man named Kennedy came to Camelot,
and the world changed a bit after he was shot.
Many of our young men went off to a foreign land
to prevent communism in a place called Vietnam
As they walked on the moon, I watched in awe
at the marvels of space travel on TV I saw.
With flags 'a-waving' we celebrated with glee
at 200 years of our beautiful country.
When a man named Reagan begun to Preside.
I took to the polls with an 18 yr old pride.
Marriage and struggles followed me then
while God worked in me as only He can.
A child arrives, though 10 days late
shortly before a madman invaded Kuwait.
A man named Bush, sent our troops to war.
We kicked butt and that was for sure.
When a boy named Clinton got really wild,
the Lord blessed us with another Child.
After 8 years of "him" we truly did cheer
when from the smoke another Bush did appear.
On 9/11 we lost almost 3000 people,
and flags waved from rooftops and steeples.
Our president again, was forced into battle
our troops rounded up terrorists like they were cattle.
Now 40 years later, it seems I have to say,
Yes, it is for me, another Birthday.
By Dave K.
(aka Johnny Gage)
Johnny gave me permission to post his Birthday poem here, he's trying to finish up a project (Me thinks so he can celebrate)

She'll probably appreciate the compliment.
I don't think she gets many from those who
should be encouraging her. She informed me
that was her best poem. I haven't gotten to
read any of her other works yet, but I'm sure
they're not as bad as she thinks.
