You are a dagger thrust into my chest
that lay the love in my heart to rest.
You told me that you did care,
so why can't I find you anywhere?
You knew my heart beat for you,
love made me blind to what was true.
Your tongue was full of poisonous lies,
but I was caught spellbound by the gleam in your eyes.
Those gleaming eyes of beautiful blue...
I still think of their shady hue.
I used to think there was no cure
for this feeling I found so pure,
but now I see I've wasted my youth...
it hurts to know the wicked truth.
This pain in my heart was unforseen.
The gleam in your eyes, the DAGGER'S gleam!
I've been told I'm good at writing heartbreak.
I have more like this, that's why my poetry is
considered depressing.

I like that one. Sometimes "painful" poetry is just what is needed.
