Sad isn't it.
My boys are now 21 and 23. When they were younger and would bring home a "newbie", he was introduced, and then got "the speech" by my husband.
It went something like this:
Hi, Jason, nice to meet you, First of all, let me tell you, there are guns in this house and they are all loaded. If you have an interest in guns, let me know and I will show them to you. Otherwise, you do not touch them. AT ALL!.... If you touch a gun without my permission, the worst that could happen is that you could kill someone... the least.. you will be banned from this house forever."
This policy worked well for us. We now have several good and safe shooters among my sons' friends. One got his first deer last year.
Proper teaching is the key.
BTW, I never thought about taking off my clothes to compensate for a bad birthday party. Yuch! I guess my thoughts of mothering is just a little bit different from this woman's.
