They are on the rise again.
Chestertown, MD: an independent convenience store (don't know where they buy their gas) sold regular unleaded for $1.529/gallon as of Tuesday 8/19/03. As of today (Saturday 8/23) that same store charges $1.729/gallon.
How much of this is attributable to the imminent Labor Day weekend, and how much is attributable to the leaky pipeline in AZ?

After all, MD is three time zones east of of that pipeline (two time zones east from late Oct. to early Apr.).

There used to be a gaspricewatch.com where you could post local gas prices, but it appears to be gone now. <|:(~

$1.80 unleaded regular Western Washington, Olympic Peninsula area. Up about $.10 in the last week.

I was in Rancho Mirage back in July and gas prices were about $1.60-$1.80 ..i'm sure they are much higher there now.
Here in Rhode Island gas prices were $1.52 a few weeks back, now they are up to $1.80. I'd hate to see what the gas prices are in New Canaan CT, lol @ those "poor" soccer moms.

$1.45 here. I'm always amazed how the gas is anywhere from 3c to 10c more expensive as soon as I drive across the border into MD.

Yesterday it was $1.53 in East Montgomery, ALabama. It went up overnight from $1.47. I really have no idea of how these changes happen. It seems to me that gasoline prices change at the whim of some unknown S.O.B.
Of course, the fact that gasoline is taxed beyond reason is a factor.
