Heard last night that Davis plans to resign on night before recall. Lt Gov becomes governor; recall election is cancelled; Dem remains governor. Anyone else hear this?

Silly rumor and completely wrong. There WILL be an election regardless of whether he quits.

How many times will someone post this rumor? Geez. It's too late. He had to do it before the recall was certified.

I think that scenario died when the Recall was certified. However, he can still resign at a strategic time as a possible ploy to help elect Cruz. Also, both Gray and Cruz can resign to help elect Barbra Streisand or Mike Farrell or Ed Asner or Cybill Shephard or Miss Piggy.

This has been debunked repeatedly. The Recall is on like it or not.

If Davis cared a whit about his Party rather than himself, he would resign immediately and at least let Bustamente run as an incumbent.

Because Davis cannot think of anybody but himself, this will never happen. We can expect Mcawful/Clintons to try and pull some Toricelli trick though.

I hate to ask you this, but in the spirit of killing this rumor can you please cite your source on this. Please understand that I am here in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey like yourself and it is not unusual for me to encounter extreme hostilities aimed in my direction. I do believe you however, it is a question that will come up. Also, if there is a guy who should be recalled it is our Senator Lautenberg
