So, the current law of the land is if you have anything in your house that a burglar could break in and steal from you, and then conceivably use to further their criminal efforts (the thief doesn't even have to actually use whatever he stole), you're a criminal subject to arrest. Do you feel safer now?

I like when I hear about "bomb making materials" found in someone's garage. Let's see that'll be: gas, some rags, and a container. I think 99% of garages fit that bill.

What TV station did you hear this on? What was the name of the ATF agent? Where did it occur?

A statement unsupported in any way by the "facts" you posted in this thread.

My wife has her purse filled with credit cards in the house. It makes me feel very unsafe.

Lol.

The latest police line I have heard is that guns stored at home are considered by police to be dangerous to occupants and others, and if a homeowner wants to be safe, the official police recommendation is to avoid keeping guns at home.
Since this seems to be a recurring theme among the police, it seems to reflect some kind of training that they receive. Probably a new training film which (one imagines) replaced the training on Constitutional rights of civilians...

In that case, the cops have dangerous items at work, and should get rid of all their guns promptly.
