I think also that it is better to avoid all that messy stuff if possible. I had a boss about five years ago who started telling me he had erotic dreams about me, insisted on telling me about the dreams, then asking for them to be real, or I might just find myself without work. I resigned, and even went so far as to talk to my attorney. She was willing to file for me, and told me to prepare for a nasty battle. She said we would probably win, but to prepare for a lot of mud slinging. I decided it wouldn't look good to a new employer for me to be involved in litigation against a former employer, so I didn't file.

I agree with you, I was not interested in the mud slinging and it would have gotten ugly, although all the attorneys I spoke with said I would win in the end.

I already had a new job lined up that was going to be paying me more. My new boss, owner of the radio station I went to, actualy encouraged me to go after them, or at least make them think I was giong. He knew most of the people involved, having worked for the company that had previously owned the other station, and had been screwed in the takeover.

In the end we had the last laugh - the news department I had left had consistently won all kinds of news and broadcasting awards - particularly for political coverage. It was years before they ever received another award. In just a couple of years I had made many contacts in state and local government levels and they were all ticked off about what happened to me, and what had been the number 1 radio news department in the state capitol lost all of their sources in government and had to start all over!!!!!!

Payback can be a b!tch - and I'm glad I was the b!tch that inflicted it on them!!!!
