anyone ever been "Forbidden" from using Google search? I can't get to it from any source today and keep getting a "forbidden" page instead. Just curious.

Were you searching for something you shouldn't?

It's working fine..... maybe you spelled it wrong?

LOL! Not that I know of. Just the usual everyday stuff. I've never even heard of this before.

You may very well have been forbidden by your network administrator.

Sounds exactly like what happened to me a few months ago when the network administrator blocked Free Republic at the firewall.

I was never so happy to learn the machine had crashed and had to be rebuilt. If I'm careful about my surf time, maybe he won't put the block back on FR.

I have been FORBIDDEN access for the last two days but I understand that my ISP (BTInternet) has been under virus attack and Google is refusing access.

if there are any others in this position I would appreciate confirmation.
(I tried cleaing Google completely including all ref in the register - then re-installing, in case the problem was mine - only to discover the fault remains.)

I’m working from home today. I checked my access to Google from here and had no problem. Then I logged on to the work network thru our VPN. Our work firewall requires me to use a password to get to Google but it worked fine.

I think your explanation about Google blocking your ISP may be the problem. It’s not unusual for an ISP to get “blacklisted” if they are under a heavy attack and/or if they fail to react quickly to that problem.

The problem is that so many places subscribe to these blacklists. There will be a ton of sites that wind up blocking your ISP. Then, because the blacklist spreads like a DNS address change, it can take several days for your ISP to be removed from the blacklist on all the various servers after they fix their problem and get removed from the blacklist.
