Good morning... I was IMing with one friend who just returned from his honeymoon trip to Iceland and Sweden (the English professor *L* in case anyone remembers - he was really a theology grad student) and was interrupted in that by a phone call from another friend who eloped on Saturday and wanted to tell me about it.
Our Rose of Sharon was gorgeous this year. Those blossoms are about six inches across.

In the courtyards at these apartments there are big outdoor grills and picnic tables scattered around. One is just down from our balcony, and my youngest son has been obsessing with the need to grill food since he spotted it. Last night I wrapped up some salmon in foil and let him cook it out there. I have to admit, it tasted better somehow than when I cook it in the oven. YUMMMMMMMMMM
To: ValerieUSA
Oh my goodness Val..I do remember him.. All your friends are biting the dust..
How do you like your new digs? I love the pics you've been posting.. It must be fun to discover new spots.. ;)
To: grannie9
So THAT'S a Rose of Sharon!! I never knew what that was (or who?). It's beautiful, Gran. Does it have a fragrance like a rose?
To: ValerieUSA
LOL.. I never noticed it's smell. It was so pretty that we had a stranger drive into our yard and asked where we bought it. He said he had never seen one so full and beautiful.. I think I got it at the nursery that closed.. :)
On the other hand, our Hydrangeas are almost bloomless. (Is that a word?) I have to look on the internet and see if I can find out why.. Maybe we are over trimming it in the fall? When they were little, they were nothing but blooms, but now that they are getting bigger, they hardly bloom at all.
To: ValerieUSA
Welll.. I found my answer.. We are cutting them back too far..
All next years blossoms are forming now. I will take the clippers away from Al. He is deadly with clippers and a chainsaw..:(
To: grannie9
Smart thinking... get those clippers away from him. Let him mow the lawn. *L*
To: ValerieUSA
Sounds like a very nice apartment complex with the grills and tables for people to enjoy...and yes, for some reason grilled food (USUALLY) is better than ovened vittles.
Cheers guys.

Here's another picture I took in downtown Austin yesterday while photographing the trooper for his acting portfolio. It's one of the few skyline vignettes without a big construction crane in it.

Subject: comeback of the year award goes to:
A defense attorney was cross-examining a Chicago police officer during a
felony trial -- it went like this:
Q. Officer, did you see my client fleeing the scene?
A. No sir, but I subsequently observed a person matching the description of
the offender running several blocks away.
Q. Officer, who provided this description?
A. The officer who responded to the scene.
Q. A fellow officer provided the description of this so-called
offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?
A. Yes sir, with my life.
Q. With your life? Let me ask you this then officer -- do you have a
locker room in the police station -- a room where you change your clothes in
preparation for your daily duties?
A. Yes sir, we do.
Q. And do you have a locker in that room?
A. Yes sir, I do.
Q. And do you have a lock on your locker?
A. Yes sir.
Q. Now why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow officers with
your life, that you find it necessary to lock your locker in a room
you share with those same officers?
A. You see sir, we share the building with a court complex, and
sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through that room.
With that, the courtroom erupted in laughter, and a prompt recess was alled.
The officer on the stand has been nominated for this year's "Best comeback"
line and we think he'll win!

Hi Grannie,
I was trying to jog my memory on the Geraniums in the pot, and I found two sites of cute flower photos:
Hawaiian Flowers and Common Flowers
Both sites go to long lists of flower photographs where you can look for the one that matches what you are looking for.
Thanks for the pic and enjoy.
