Just a little LOVE SONG...
Leaves from the diary of a single dad ^ | Aug. 8 2003 | Carlo3b, a FReeper lover.

Just a little LOVE SONG...

It comes at a time when everyone needs a breather in their complex lives, someone write a song that stirs the deepest emotion, from the recesses of their soul to the twinkle in their eyes.

Ares son of Zeus; god of prophecy, light, poetry, and music, may not have started it, but he at least recorded it, if only in mythology, music is emotion. Songs in general, and LOVE SONGS in particular, have answered our need to express our inner passion, yearning, and desires, into sounds and words.

Poetry, and verse do translate into feelings and conjure up strong desires, lust, and yearnings, but when blended with sound it seems to hit the desired note in all of us..

Share with us, if you would please, your idea of the true love song, and if I assure you I won't tell anyone, tell me how it worked on you.... fingers crossed, eyes squeezed shut, mouth covered... ;)

Now you made me sad.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make anyone sad. Love songs are strange things. When you're in love and hear them, they make you smile and your heart glows thinking about the one you love. Yet, if you hear the same song later after the relationship has ended, it brings tears to your eyes and your heart breaks anew. The words haven't changed, but they've taken on different meaning.

Now you've got me thinking of sad love songs, so I'll post the one that's been on my profile page for a while...

What Might Have Been
Little Texas
(Porter Howell/Dwayne O'Brien/Brady Seals)
______

Sure I think about you now and then
But it's been a long long time
I've got a good life now I've moved on
So when you cross my mind

I try not to think about
What might have been
'Cause that was then
And we have taken different roads
We can't go back again
There's no use giving in
And there's no way to know
What might have been

We could sit and talk about this all night long
And wonder why we didn't last
Yes they might be the best days
We will ever know
But we'll have to leave them in the past

So try not to think about
What might have been
'Cause that was then
And we have taken different roads
We can't go back again
There's no use giving in
And there's no way to know
What might have been

That same old look in your eyes
It's a beautiful night
I'm so tempted to stay
But too much time has gone by
We should just say goodbye
And turn and walk away

And try not to think about
What might have been
'Cause that was then
And we have taken different roads
We can't go back again
There's no use giving in
And there's no way to know
What might have been

No we'll never know
What might have been

Ahhh...Nat King Cole! I LOVE his voice!

One of my favorite songs is Natalie Cole singing Unforgettable with her father's voice dubbed in. It's beautiful. midi version...

I hope my songs didn't rain on your parade on this thread. That wasn't my intent.

Cook for them. Food IS love. :-)

Agreed... BUT....How about if you mix to two..music and food?

Life is a minestrone

I'm dancing on the White House lawn
Sipping tea by the Taj Mahal at dawn
Hanging round the gardens of Babylon
Minnie Mouse has got it all sewn up
She gets more fan mail than the Pope
She takes the mickey out of all my phobias
Like signing cheques to ward off double pneumonia

Life is a minestrone
Served up with parmesan cheese
Death is a cold Lasagne
Suspended in deep freeze

I'm leaning on the Tower of Pisa
Had an eyeful of the tower in France
I'm hanging round the gardens of Madison

And the seat of learning
And the flush of success
Relieves a constipated mind
I'm like a gourmet in a skid row diner
A fitting menu for a dilettante

Life is a minestrone
Served up with parmesan cheese
Death is a cold Lasagne
Suspended in deep freeze
Love is a fire of flaming brandy
Upon a crepe suzette
Let's get this romance cooking, honey
But let us not forget

Life is a minestrone
Served up with parmesan cheese
Death is a cold Lasagne
Suspended in deep freeze

Styx is one of my favorite bands.

One of their best...

The Best of Times

Tonight's the night we'll make history
Honey, you and I
'Cause I'll take any risk
To tie back the hands of time
And stay with you here tonight

I know you feel these are the worst of times
I do believe it's true
When people lock their doors and hide inside
Rumor has it, it's the end of Paradise
But I know if the world just passed us by
Baby, I know, I wouldn't have to cry, no, no

The best of times are when I'm alone with you
Some rain, some shine, we'll make this a world for two
Our memories of yesterday will last a lifetime
We'll take the best, forget the rest and someday we'll find
These are the best of times
These are the best of times

The headlines read these are the worst of times
I do believe it's true
I feel so helpless like a boat against the tide
I wish the summer wind could bring back Paradise
But I know if the world turned upside down
Baby I know you'd always be around, my, my

The best of times
Are when I'm alone with you
Some rain, some shine
We'll make this a world for two

When I'm alone with you
The best of times
Everything's alright
Are when I'm alone with you
When I'm alone with you
Some rain, some shine
You brighten up the night
We'll make this a world for two
Said when I'm alone with you The best of times

To: carlo3b; gonzo
I wrote this for my daughter's wedding. In one of the nicest things ever done for me, FReeper gonzo went into the studio, did a wonderful arrangement, and expressed me the tape. I didn't cry when I danced with her (because I listened to it at least 100 times before the wedding and totally emptied my dear ducts), but she absolutely cried her eyes out. There weren't many dry eyes that evening. We had the wedding on a yacht cruise out of Newport Harbor in S. California.

Stacy fell in love with a young sailor and went with him to Whidbey Island, foregoing a dance scholarship. For almost 4 years, they have been very happy. He's made three tours of the Middle East, and we are very proud of him.

He made the lyrics track wonderfully with the music, and the music on the tape puts this MIDI to shame.

MIDI - MY HEART WILL GO ON

My sweet daughter, Stacy...you've grown up, you're married
What a fine young lady, indeed
I can still remember your first dance recital
And the days I taught you to read

So now it is time to move on...and we will be such a distance apart
But, my dear, wherever you go
I hope that you know you're always, yes, always, in daddy's heart

May your life be joyful on your new adventure
Many lessons it's sure to teach
Life is what you make it...I hope you will live it
For your dreams may you always reach

So now it is time to move on...and we will be such a distance apart
But, my dear, wherever you go
I hope that you know you're always, yes, always, in daddy's heart

So now it is time to move on...and we will be such a distance apart
But, my dear, wherever you go
I hope that you know you're always, yes, always, in daddy's heart
