Don't fault your grandmother - ignore your thoughts that she only calls when the others ignore her. Call her. Don't deny your kids any contact with the older generation of the family if it is possible. If it's only an hour away - take the kids to her - at least once.
I still do have a grandmother alive, although I don't know if she remembers she has a great-grandchild; she has Alzheimer's/senile dementia and my aunt who has been living with her and taking care of her for years broke her hip last year.
My Aunt had to place her mother in a nursing home last December. I know this was not an easy decision for my aunt, and the fact that it happened just adds to my problems with my mother - who criticized me and my ex husband to no end when his mother needed to be placed in a nursing home. She swore that no member of her family would ever be put in a nursing home, no matter what.

Take heart, Gabz, there are more dysfunctional families around than you can imagine. I have learned that life is too short to surround yourself with miserable people, whether you are related to them or not. Friends have proven more dependable than family, in my experience, maybe because I chose them.

""2 is too young to be misbehaving. " Hah! Misbehavin' can start at 2 months ....
Every kid, grandkid, niece, nephew, brother, sister, aunt, and uncle I've changed diapers for since I was age 9 and wearing glasses needed to be taught
(1) not to grab glasses off the nose of the "changer"
(2) Not to grab the dirty bottom (or the dirty diaper) of the "changee."
And every one of them tens of thousands "changees" for the past 45+ years I've been changin' diapers has (at one time or another) looked right at me, grinned (knowing they're doing something wrong - since they've been told at least twice) and done it anyway.
And every one of them has gotten their bottom smacked right then and there... one finger for each year.

Be consistent, no matter what or how she tries to wear you down. It will keep you sane in the long run. :-)

I guess in the long run that is exactly what I was trying to say.
I really don't know what got into me today to go into all that stuff - I can only say that I do it less and less as the time goes by.

Eala and me (I?) sent xsex a dual photo of us standing next to a xsmommy's battery rack! That's right, we did.
And here's one from yesterday's FReep:
Think all those nice women would be standing by me if I weren't quite handsome beneath that mask?

Xs would say, that's the only way the women were willing to be seen with you in public, because that's the twisted, devious way her depraved mind works.

I did call her originally and return her calls whenever she calls me. She lives/works in a seedy motel that I won't take the kids to. Plus, she travels all the time 4-5 hours to see my aunt and cousin. No reason she can't make the hour drive to see us. She very healthy for her age and has always loved travel. She had very little to do with us growing up either. I'm surprised my dad will even speak to her but he seems to have forgiven her for abandoning him when he was 6mths old because her new boyfriend didn't want her with her child. She left him with her mom and never came back. She despises my mom and cusses at her whenever she speaks to her. She can be a very nasty old lady. I'm not sure I want the kids to meet her because she is just as likely to come over and cuss me out one day out of the blue as she is to just visit and be nice. She use to do that to my parents all the time when I was little. I also don't remember a single Christmas when she was around. Last Christmas was the first time she said she was going to come see the kids and was a no show. I honestly don't think she's ever met any of her great grandchildren. She has quite a few. She has my address though should she ever decide to come over and knows we have an extra bed. The kids have grandparents and great grandparents on hubby's side of the family and grandparents on my side that they see frequently so they are only missing out on one of many.

Oh and if you give them the glasses before you change the diaper, they won't grab at their bottom. :)

I hope this poor man has the most
tenacious lawyer in Texas and that he tears into these two doctors like a pit bull and doesn't let go until he extracts a huge settlement.
Wichita County man sues clinic, doctors after sex organ removed
The doctors decided during a procedure for bladder cancer to completely remove his entire cluster based on the opinion that the cancer had spread to a penile cancer (without bothering to test or consult with the patient first). Later, a doctor reviewing the data concluded that there was no penile cancer.

I am going to have to respectfully decline my grade. I used the term "old man" in consecutive sentences, but with different meanings. The first time I meant the victim was an old dude; the second 'old man' was meant in the 'father' sense to refer to the perp. Confusing.
