Do we have to leave? May we not find orthodox parishes, diocese in which to worship? A schism would be useful; it would at least give the evangelicals and orthodox a place to go.

Are you familiar with the concept of a "tipping point?" This may just be the straw that breaks the camel's back....it's hard to leave...churches are local...your friends and neighbors belong..you don't want to lose that...but we've only to blame ourselves..we've let our church rot from within...in the NY Diocese..the vast majority of the ministers openly support a woman's right to choose ( gotta love the euphamism for murder ) so if a congregation aquiesces in their minister telling them that killing babies is OK..well, what more can shock...I broke with my church in spirit, about three years ago, when the minister devoted his sermon during a baptismal service ( normally about the most joyous day in a church..6 babies being baptized) into a rant as to why immaculate conception was the first STD...words truly failed me...

Well I'm an Episcopalian although probably not a very good one as I haven't attended a service in a long time. I don't expect I'll "break away" because to do that I'd have to join something else and I'm not much of a joiner (it took me about 20 years of voting as an independent to finally join a political party). Still, I'd like to hear from other Episcopalians about the issue.

Jesus'.....and oh, yeah..he said it....you couldn't make up something like that..what was truly nauseating was that I was the LEM that day, so I was looking out at the church...I could see all the faces....just struck dumb....

I just don't get how he could call the conception of Jesus a sexually transmitted desease, especially the first one since they had plenty of the normal ones back then. You know, like the ones where sex and a desease was actually involved. Now my question, why did you not loudly and obnoxiously walk out right then and there since kicking his ass would probably not satisfy the ole WWJD?

I didn't want to disrupt the service anymore..but we've had our own schism..I pretty much ignore him...and I won't go into the "discussions" about my introducing a pro-life curriculum into the young-adult Sunday school class I taught....until I was asked not to come back......LOL
