After seeing the names of some of the players, I just KNOW that there are Freepers who play Battlefield 1942 online. While playing last night, I noticed one of my teammates was "PuffDaschle" (I'm "HillarysFatLegs"; previously I was "FreeperJ"). In the past, I've also played with/against "dittohead", "ElRushbo", and other presumable conservatives.
For those of you who aren't familiar with this game, it's a highly addicting fps (first person shooter) that is based on numerous WW2 battles. There are also "mods" available for free download which use the programs "maps" but change the weapons available (there are also mods that develop totally new maps such as the Eve of Destruction mod which is based on the Vietnam Conflict). For instance, my favorite mod is Desert Combat, which adds modern day weapons such as the Stinger, M-16, F-16, Blackhawk helo, M1 Abrams tank, T-72 tank etc. And you don't have to be a teenager to enjoy it-I'm 40 years old (I know, I know; second childhood. But hey-I don't drink, smoke, or gamble, so I have to have at least ONE vice!).
You can play the game against the computer (great way to learn the game), but the online multiplayer game is the way to go once you have learned your way around the maps as well as the keyboard commands (you probabaly should have DSL or cable to play online; I'm sure that using a dial up connection or satellite connection would not be conducive to playing).
