Two more rumors bite the dust (Ride home and torn clothing just not true, sources say)
The Vail Daily ^ | 8/4/03 | The Vail Daily

Two more reports regarding the Kobe Bryant case circulating among part of the national media were debunked Monday.

Media reports that the 19-year-old woman who Bryant allegedly assaulted received a ride home is not the case, sources said Monday. Reports that her clothing was torn are also untrue, sources also.

Sources told the Daily that the alleged victim managed to get herself home by 11:50 p.m., June 30, after ending the shift at the Lodge at Cordillera at around 11:10 p.m.

They also said that while her clothing was disheveled and showed signs that something had occurred, it wasn't torn or ripped, as some reports indicated.

"Some of the reports made it sound like something out of a bad movie," said one source. "It wasn't like that."

The reports are part of a larger set of rumors and gossip that have been circulating across the country about the case. Among them:

- That the alleged victim was in the room two hours. It was only about 20 minutes.

- When she came down, she was hysterical. She was not. Sources said she was in a stupor and a state of shock.

- A few days before the incident, the alleged victim had accused another hotel worker of sexual harassment, getting him fired. Not true, said the man who was terminated. It was not the alleged victim.

Cameras in court

Eagle County Judge Fred Gannett ruled that not only is Bryant required to appear at 4 p.m. Wednesday, he also ruled Monday that there will be cameras in the courtroom.

Gannett denied a motion by Bryant's attorneys asking Gannett to reconsider an earlier order allowing one video camera and one still camera in the courtroom while Bryant is advised of the charges against him, and also advised of his rights.

My rule of thumb:

If anyhthing happens near a dumb, pampered jock... odds are the dumb, pampered jock is the prime suspect.

Scientific, empirical data proves this time and time again.

There is a mathematical formula, out there somewhere, that concretely proves my hypothesis.

In other words, the sources for some media reports say one thing while other sources say something else. And that has led you to conclude that Kobe Bryant is not guilty.

Well acutally the accused is supposed to have the presumption of innocence to begin with, adding to that what I know about the the alleged victim's past and the alleged accuser's past, and the details surrounding the incident that have come out, and I would say the presumption of innocence is intact, and frankly I don't see how any fair minded person could see it any other way.

Either you don't know or you presume he's innocent (because you don't know)

If you are just a regular person, having your own website smacks of a certain amount of self-centeredness and/or naivete. Of course, I am glad that Pietrack has a website, as it gives us some insight into what kind of person he is.
Based on what I see on Pietrack's website, I would tend to believe that he said would be the truth as he knew it. Of course, anyone can be mistaken, but I wouldn't peg him for a liar.

It would make these threads rather boring.

Well, yeah, there is that. Then just enjoy the wild speculation and jumping to conclusions.

I didn't know it was an indictment of some sort.

Geesh! You have a trip-wire on anything anybody says! Lighten....up!

If a person has a business website to foster contacts or advertise, I understand.

But, for a person to have a website about themselves, and their interests, and their personal stats, and a picture of themselves......who the hell else cares?

Kind of an ego thing that I don't understand.

A little judicial payback for the PR efforts by the defense?

...this woman commited suicide TWICE...

Hey, it took my husband three tries to get it right. Lighten up!

'Sides, the sources for this are about as corroborated as all the other so called "facts" in this case. If the young woman in question were as unstable as purported, she should be going for her charmed third try by now due to all the "friends" she has, not to mention those so quick to jump on anything that would demonize her and somehow therefore exonerate Kobe.

adding to that what I know about the the alleged victim's past and the alleged accuser's past,

Did you mean the alleged victim and alleged perp?

If so, since you know so much about Kobe's past that the rest of us obviously do not know, why don't you shed some light on why 911 was called to his house twice and why an unidentified female was given medical treatment that was reportedly not associated with an assault.

OK!

LOL

But my brother's is purely personal about his interests and stuff. It's not something I would do, but there ya go.

Though, Tyson is better off kept in a cage.

Not to worry, Mike has promised to "fade into Bolivian."

As for election 2000, all reporters got it wrong-including Brit Hume (my idol).

No, Rita screwed up when reading in front of the Supreme Court building when the final decision came down.

I stand second to none in the trauma she caused me. I got sick to my stomach when she crowed "Gore won!" (Which obviously meant "won" another recount, since the counts to that date had gone in GWB's favor consistantly.) I turned to MSNBC and, to his credit, Dan Abrams and team were analyzing the decision correctly.

My perception of Cosby was damaged forever and reports like this, if they have information that is not true, illustrate that she may have some kind of comprehension problem.

sarcasm or not, this woman commited suicide TWICE

Wow. That's pretty hard to do. So can we get Kobe on a necrophilia charge?

Either you don't know or you presume he's innocent (because you don't know)

Can I assume you apply the same set of principles to Bill Clinton?

I'm not on his jury, I'm here to decide based upon what I know so far. At this point I think there's a 75-25 chance some part of the encounter was against her will, but I don't know how much. Just a gut feel...

So glad to be corrected by someone as perfect as you. How does it feel to never make any mistakes, hmm? Seriously, let it go, already. I already apologised (see post 79) and GROW UP!

I suppose Mr. Sources is going to be very busy testifying at Kobe's trial

and Rita will have to close up her show without him!

Stupid white girl; stupid black man. Also stupid hotel management, stupid "friends," stupid reporters, etc.

EVERYONE in this case thus far is stupid, in my opinion! Bryant has himself a good defense team, however -- definitely NOT a stupid male/female duo. It will be entertaining if nothing else..........

A little judicial payback for the PR efforts by the defense?

What PR efforts would those be? Kobe's lawyers have only appeared in public once, unlike the DA, who held press conferences to announce more press conferences.

Pamela Mackey and Hal Haddon are going do their damage in court not the court of public opinion. They are low profile attorneys. They are going to shred Hulbert.
