Q. for New England Freepers (Vanity)
Posted on 08/02/2003 9:16:44 AM PDT by Snickersnee
Is it just me or are any of the rest of you noticing an unusually large amount of Canadian coinage in circulation in New England? It used to be a no-big-deal thing, but since a Canadian quarter is only worth, what, eighteen cents? -- I find myself inspecting all the change I get at convenience stores, etc. What really frosts me is getting CDN coins in change from a vending machine that won't TAKE the aforesaid coins!

What really frosts me is getting CDN coins in change from a vending machine that won't TAKE the aforesaid coins! So it only means the vending company has found a revenue enhancement scheme, since only they could put them in there.
Carefully, quietly, the kneadable patching epoxy putty in the coin slot will protect the customers after you.

The exchange rate is more favorable to the Canadians now. The increase is most likely due to more Canadians here than when a Canadian buck was worth sixty cents.
But yeah I've noticed. I go to northern Maine fairly regularly and haven't had to check my change for a while. Now I get CDN change often. Just hand it back and ask for American.
