The Smokey Backroom vs General Interest?

So what is the difference between the General Interest section and The Smokey Backroom section of the FR? Has The Smokey Backroom section been established because the General Interest section has sort of turned into the Hobbit section? I just want to know so I know what sort of stuff to post in The Smokey Backroom section.

Oh, relax. There's nothing wrong with the Hobbit Hole or liking Tolkien. I like Tolkien. Although, I do think the movie was stupid. The first one. I did not see the sequel.

I know this PJ-Comix of which you speak, and I could talk PJ-Comix from here to eternity, and he still wouldn't get The Hobbit Hole. It is exhausting to try, and I fail to see the payoff!

What amazes me is that someone like PJ-Comix and others can spend hours, days, weeks, months, even years on this site and never notice the links up in the right hand corner of their screen that say

Or.... having looked at them, they get stumped... they wonder where the links go, but can't bring themselves to click them. Or they post to a thread that gets 'moved to chat' and they get flummoxed. Lost. They don't know where they are or how to get out. This from Freepers who could find any small bit of needed information on the 'net in 2 minutes and figure out how to post it. But here, they are a truly helpless person.... I find that aspect rather fascinating.

If I said I didn't like you, wouldn't you take less offense than if I said you were STUPID?

The difference is that you are entitled to not like something or someone, but calling that thing or person STUPID is another matter entirely.

So you don't like Hobbits or the movies, I understand that. They are not STUPID, however, just because you say they are.

Get it?

I said above, I don't really care if you like the movie or not. But you came on here saying, "Hobbits are stupid!"

Admittedly you did that in response to a post about moving this to "The Smokey Backroom."

But to those of us who are unashamededly "fanatics" your post was an insult. We see more in Tolkien and LOTR than just a "cute story." We see parallels to the Greatest Story Ever Told and we see many applications for our society today.

If you can't see that, that's your loss. And when you say that hobbits or the movie are "stupid" then I will say again that you are ignorant.
