I did a little research tonight after making a comment in another thread about the RIAA faking the facts. I think we need to alert our Senators and Reresentatives about what is really going on. Almost as bad as the trial lawyers, it is wrong to make unsubstantiated claims in order to have laws passed and law suits issued.

I buy all sorts of new recordings but few of the labels/artists I buy from are members of the RIAA.

Norton Records, Estrus, Gearhead, Sympathy For The Record Industry, and maybe some Sundazed and Bear Family.

The labels may not be household names but there are chart listing artists among them. These labels released artists like The Hives, Mooney Suzuki, and The White Stripes (although MS is the only of those artists I bought). The artists I listed are likely under the RIAA now but they weren't when they were on the small labels (and many more have the potential to run up the charts).

The public isn't buying what the RIAA is selling. Maybe the RIAA should get some better bands under their belt and stop dishing us pablum.
