I have to buy a new refrigerator.
Are any brands still manufactured in the US?
I would happily pay a premium to buy a US manufactured appliance!
Even better, does anyone know of a website that lists consumer appliance brands etc that are still manufactured in the US by US owned companies?
I don't want a refirgerator made by slaves.

The last I heard Amana refridgerators were made in Iowa. Not sure if it is still the case.

To be honest, I really couldn't find one...I recently purchased a new washer, my search in products made in the USA was null, so I bought from an ally, New Zealand...Fischer & Paykel.

The best washer I ever bought! Saves time, money, water and energy! I have saved $135 in water the last 6 months!

You'll wanna go with
Amana or
Arctic Air then. There are a few other lines which include both USA Made and foreign made models.

Is it me or my sights? Funny how the thread above has endured past 50 post and this one gets relegated to 'chat' before it reaches 10 posts.

Frigidairre (sp?) is owned by Electrolux but designed and manufactured here in the states.

Here is one but you would not want it. It's always way too cold, the legs are ugly and when you open the door it has a squeak that sounds like someone saying "you know" over and over.

I bought a new Amana in 1997 at Circuit City (I understand they no longer carry appliances). I wasn't particularly concerned with where it was made, or even the brand name, I was looking mostly at features versus price. The Amana was a nice unit, frost free, ice maker, etc., and had a decent price tag.
We came back home after a week away and found the thing dead, all inside was ruined and a bit of a stinking gooey mess, liquids running out onto the floor, live insects inside & so forth. It was just out of the warranty, one year, expired during the week we were gone. Amana and Circuit City told me to get screwed.
I threw it out and bought a vintage White-Westinghouse at a thrift store. It's scratched and dented, it's an ugly color, and it frosts up fairly quick because the door gaskets have gone flat - but it keeps our food cold. I don't think I'll ever buy another new one.
Fridges are something that should run almost forever, the technology is mature and the basic design about the same in all of them. Several people I know have units that are 50 years old, and some of those old ones are pretty classy looking. I have an old Monkey-Wards deepfreeze out here in the garage that's been humming along for 20 years.
