Did anyone else see anything odd in the western sky last night.
My wife & I were out for a walk, and at about 11:07 PM CDT I noticed appeared to be a bright star, at about 45 degs. from horizon, just below and left of the end star in the handle of the "Big dipper".
It was a whitish light with a greenish tint.
It appeared to get brighter, then faded rapidly until it was gone and moved slightly horizontally across the sky for about several inches.
At its brightest, it was about twice the size as any other star/planet in that part of the sky.
My thought it might have been a meteorite coming through in a direction directly towards us, then burned out.

If it had a greenish tint, it may have had a copper composition.

It moved several inches did it? Probably one of the telephone satellites, although it might have been a weather satellite. Iridium satellites have large flat solar panels that cast a particularly bright light when they catch the sun.
