Motorcyclist fatally strikes vehicle

HOBE SOUND — A Hobe Sound man was killed on his motorcycle early Monday after he was hit by another driver, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Anthony Wetherald, 26, died after the 7:30 a.m. crash, troopers stated.
The crash occurred as Hobe Sound resident Jimmy John Stewart, 34, was turning south on to U.S. 1 from westbound Southeast Hobe Terrace in a 2003 Ford.
Stewart drove "directly into the path of" Wetherald, who was riding north on U.S. 1 on his 2003 Buell motorcycle, the FHP reported.
Stewart and passenger Tyler Winkler, 15, both of 7299 S.E. Hobe Terrace, were not injured. Both were wearing seat belts, the FHP reported.
Wetherald was thrown from the bike and landed in the northbound lane of U.S. 1.
Troopers are investigating the crash and charges are pending, the FHP reported.
