YOU can boot to the 2000 CD and reinstall, OR you can FDISK, Reformat, Install *note* you will have to add all applications again, all your personal stuff will be lost then. I suggest you try the first option I gave you. (read my profile)

How do I begin the 'boot' process? I inserted the win cd into the tray but nothing happens when the cd is installed and the cds grive starts. In other words, is there a specific point or critical time to insert the win cd? Or some kind of prompt command I need to use in dos or safe mode to get the cd to start up?

Why not go to the system registry & reset to a date that the computer was functioning properly. By no means too savy here but I know that reformating the drive is alot of work.
