"A family of four making 50 grand is not paying a heavy load of taxes."

I want you to understand that I mean the following in the best possible way!

You are full of horseshit!

Then I assume you will refuse to accept Social Security
at retirement time. The money to pay your share will come out of the paychecks of the younger.

Do you want other people to bear the burden of your $300/month drug bill that you already pay for yourself?

Oh so that makes it OK to take from them to pay for anothers meds.

Medicare taxes are paid on every earned dollar, and i'm sure some of this money will be used to pay for those meds.

Yes they are. Take a look at the ever expanding FICA out of a paycheck.

Do you even earn a paycheck?

So, is Medicare going to pick up the tab for a second opinion? How much do you think that will cost?

I understand the constitutional argument about this, but you need to know that you haven't dealt with prescription prices lately. I take two medicines which I will probably take for the rest of my life. I have insurance, am not on Medicare.

I just checked the online discount pharmacy for the prices of my TWO medicines for one month. Please remember that seniors often are on many more medicines than two.

The monthly cost of my medicine, at an on-line discount pharmacy, is $204.27.

Now, I am willing to go back to means testing in Medicare. However, there will be howling about a cut-off line, and then you will have costs incurred from keeping track of income. It may be cheaper to give Ross Perot and others prescription drug coverage rather than set up another bureaucracy to keep track of who qualifies and who doesn't.

I am not addressing the constitutionality, because Medicare itself is unconstitutional, and we are not going to get rid of it any time soon. That is reality.

I can afford mine but a lot of people, including some posting on this thread can't. They won't bitch until they are faced with the cost of medication.

I recall an adage about a dearth of choosing going hand in hand with begging.... How does that go again?

That's just stupid. When I am eligible for Social Security (if it still exists) then I will have been paying into the system for over 40 years. It's not like SS recipients get something for nothing.

And it won't be long before there are only 2 younger workers for every retiree. The system will go broke, but A-hole Dems don't want to allow younger workers the choice (it's all about "choice", isn't it?) to invest a portion of their SS tax into the private sector.

I'll accept SS because I have been forced to pay into it. Doesn't make it right.

OK, if I cannot afford my own, how am I going to afford chipping in for everyone elses too?

FICA is not a tax.

Federal government taking part of my hard earned dollars and there's no way I can stop them=TAX.

FICA is not a tax.

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Then I guess it doesn't actually come out of my 'pre-tax' paycheck?

I don't want to pay it. Can I have it back?

It will become a tax if the ceiling is ever removed.

It is a contribution to your own retirement. You can avoid
FICA. Get some government jobs or enough civilian jobs
to bring your income above the ceiling.

It is a contribution to your own retirement.

So, in other words, FICA=Social Security.

I've seen people using food stamps that have a better car than me!!

Those days will soon be over. Food Stamps are being replaced by inconspicuous debit cards. Then, recipients will look like anyone else using a debit card at the checkout counter.

The do-gooders are trying to remove the "stigma" of government assistance. I guess they don't see how a little "stigma" can be a very good thing.
