Why Saddam Must be Dead, Osama Captured
One small Voice

If you think Osama and Saddam are still in hiding some things just do not add up. I think Saddam is dead and here is why:

His most trusted bodyguard who was his cousin in charge of his personal security was recently captured, no Saddam.

Billions of dollars of stolen money have been found. Would you leave a billion dollars laying around?

He was not liked. If anybody knows where he is they would rat him out.

When the government fell there was nobody in charge.

I think he was killed by his own men and the body destroyed.

Osama on the other hand was captured by the US Army Rangers in a daring nightime assaultin November of 2001. When his usefullness is done he will be executed and his body destroyed. It may have already happened.

Well, it would be kind of hard to hide AND move the money, and it is doubtful he is hiding with people who hate him.

So you think a billionaire is hanging around Iraq waiting to retake control? His priority now would be to stay alive and hold to what he stole. He lost his money therefore he is likely dead.

That some money to which Saddam could have had access before the war has been found after the war does not indicate either that (1) Saddam ever personnally possessed that particular money, or (2) that Saddam personally lost that money. There's lots of stolen money floating around Iraq. Since Saddam clearly stole some large chunk of money from the Iraqi people is clear. I doubt very much that he would keep all of it in cash, as opposed to stashing it in secure locations around the world. Given the amount of money he likely stole, he likely has sufficient resources to stay hidden for a long time to come.

He lost some of what he stole, not all. You can be sure he has accounts all over the world that we haven't gotten to.

The money doesn't mean much. Heck, it probably wasn't even mostly his. There's a whole government of crooks who were stealing.

He either wants power, or can't get out. Given his mind, I am betting it's the former.

I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT - IT IS VERY MUCH WISHFUL THINKING. It would be a nice thing to have history record your hypothesis as being ABSOLUTELY true.

Wow, so where'd you hear that about Osama? And where's your proof of it by the way?

Mostly speculation but these stories hit the airwaves after the raid that nabbed Osama:

High court ruled that US could hold captives without trial.

High court ruled that they could be held indefinitely.

High court recently ruled that their indentiies could be kept secret.

Right after the raid Rummy was not happy that it had been leaked. Go back and find this november 2001 press release. He went on record as saying the only thing they got was 'inteligence' and that nobody had he 'captured' or killed. Very strange comments for such an operation. It was a nightime paratrooper incursion by US Army Rangers.

Right after this Osama dropped from sight and has hardly been heard from since. The only times he speaks is through audio tapes and these could be producted by our intelegence to try to find hidden cells.

Their biggest advantage was their secrecy and we are using that against them.

As for Saddam I think the pending DNA testing of the stike last week will show that he is toast. The strike came right after we picked up the #4 guy, strange timing but I think he talked, I think he was forced to talk, count his fingers.

My point was that if you had billions of dollars, that is with a b, you would spend it in such a way that your presence would not be a secret.

Something to make us think.

*****

I was at a UNC lecture the other day where they played a video of Oliver North during the Iran-Contra deals during the Reagan administration. I was only 14 back then but was surprised by this particular clip. There was Olie in front of God and Country getting the third degree. But what he said stunned me. He was being drilled by some senator I didn't recognize who asked him:

'Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?'

Oliver replied, 'Yes I did sir.'

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, 'Isn't this just a little excessive?'

'No sir,' continued Oliver.

'No. And why not?'

'Because the life of my family and I were threatened.'

'Threatened? By who.'

'By a terrorist, sir.'

'Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?'

'His name is Osama bin Laden.'

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued.

'Why are you so afraid of this man?'

'Because sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of.'

'And what do you recommend we do about him?'

'If it were me I would recommend an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth.'

The senator disagreed with this approach and that was all they showed of the clip.

It's scary when you think 15 years ago the government was aware of Osama bin Laden and his potential threat to the security of the world. I guess like all great tyrants they start small but if left untended spread like the virus they truly are.
