Iow Granny.....here's a copy of the letter to the Editor I emailed today. I think you could tell I was not in a good mood. Oh well. ;-)

-----------------------------------------------

STOP THE WHINING!

I have kept track now for almost two months of the letters written by citizens and PRINTED by the "Voice of the People" and I've had it UP TO HERE with all the liberal whining and I absolutely refuse to just sit here and take it anymore. All I hear is "it's all about the oil", "Another Hitler", "No WMD's Found". The phrase "President Bush Lied to the American People" seems to be the most popular these days.

Lied about what? That Saddam Hussein was an evil dictator who tortured his own people? That this war is taking longer than he said it would? That we haven't found WMD yet, so therefore they never existed?

That the War on Terror would be an easy fight and OBL would be in jail by now?

Let me point out a few things to you big bunch of crybabies. The United Nations knew about Iraq's WMD. How do I know that? BECAUSE THEY HAD SANCTIONS IMPOSED upon them by the UN for having things they weren't supposed to have. France, Russia and Germany also knew that Saddam Hussein had WMD, and they knew he used them on the Kurds, but they didn't want to lose their money, so they voted against the Resolution. Wah wah wah. Did you miss the the news reports on TV during and after the war when we found the mass graves with 1,000's and 1,000's of dead Iraqi citizens killed (and who else knows what they had to endure) and then dumped like garbage into big pits in the ground? Did you miss the empty buildings our troops found that had been cleared out before we got there because they had 12 years to do what they wanted with them? President Bush warned us this was not going to be an easy fight, and it's not.

Put down your Kool-Aid, wake up and smell the coffee. We're way past the days when Bill Clinton lobbed a few missiles and hit camels in tents after giving the Iraqi government 15 times to change their minds. We went to the UN and told them what we knew and gosh, golly whiz, we even had proof of it. The (OUR) United States Congress voted in FAVOR of using military action if diplomatic efforts failed. Do you remember that? Did you think Saddam would suddenly just relinquish all power because he got a heart from the Wizard of Oz? How much time should we have given him? If he didn't have any WMD, end of problem. The Iraqi Government led the UN Inspectors around by the nose, as they have been doing for years, and Hans Blix was the #1 offender. He couldn't make up his mind whether they were cooperating or not from one day to the next.

George Bush does not run this country by conducting polls, he runs it like a Commander-In-Chief is supposed to run this country and he runs it the way our forefathers intended this country to be run...to protect us from all enemies...domestic and abroad.

I didn't hear anyone screaming about the fact that while Senator Bob Graham of Florida was campaigning in Iowa 2 weeks ago he purposely left out the fact that he CO-WROTE THE BILL called the "USA Patriot Act" because people were telling him how it was going to "threaten" our civil liberties. He also failed to mention that Senators' Kerry, Edwards and Lieberman all voted in favor of it. You know why he didn't mention it? So he wouldn't lose his base, that's why. It's not on his presidential campain website, but it is on his official US Senate Website. Pull it up and tell me: is that lying? Or is it different? Gee, maybe he just couldn't "recall" that bill.

I could go on for years about the hypocrisy that flows in Washington, but I won't. If you are going to throw around accusations, it might be a good idea to have the proof to back them up.

Here's what I suggest: if you don't like the way this country is being run, run for office yourself. Or, if you REALLY don't like it, you can always just leave but take Alec, Sheen and Streisand with you, thank you very much.

I'm all in favor of Freedom of Speech, do not get me wrong. However, there is a big difference between Freedom of Speech and Freedom to Spread Lies.

I wonder if the Ledger will have the guts to print this letter or not. We'll find out soon enough. ------------------------------------------------------------ Name Here Lakeland, Florida
