we did everything right. It fell.

I'm afraid you are taking this far too seriously. The rest of us would have hollowed out the failure, filled it with instant pudding, topped it with Cool Whip and called it GOOD.

Smokey is like the Cat who sang Memories in the play Cats.

The Memories cat always was a stray, lived alone on the streets & was lonely. He recalls on his deathbed the one person who was kind to him.

Listen to the song again with that little bit of background

Oh, thanks, Dolly! Now you'll get me to crying again!

He was a funny little cat. He was the one who would stand in the backyard and get the dog to barking so that I would open the garage door and give him a can of food. He had gotten so I could pet him, and he followed my neighbor around like a puppy, but he wouldn't let anyone pick him up and he always stayed outside, even in very cold weather.

Sniff.

How do put into words how much your visit contributed to my recovery?

I was feeling pretty down, in many ways, and just the look of your smile washed alot of that away with rain!!!

YOU dear are a treasured friend...forever and always.

Mark does know his wines (and my WHINES!!) for sure!!!

We will definitely try to make a trip to Ohio to visit with you and hubby!

I saw the discussion about lilacs and roses. Does anyone have an explanation as to why my mums would be blooming right now?

I bought some mums last fall and put them on my front porch in containers when I put my condo on the market. When I moved, I put one of the plants in the ground here, to hide a gas meter. It is blooming, now.......don't tell me that summer is over already!

I've got lots of roses on my "carpet rose" plants. My other rosebushes are just beginning to bud. I've got a Ronald Reagan and a Veteran's honor from Jackson and Perkins. I have 3 lilacs that I just planted from bareroots this spring. They have leaves, but I didn't expect to get blooms this year. Hhhhmmm, maybe they'll bloom in the fall!

I have mums that are setting bud as well, although not all of them. For some reason, it is a variety that is usually a late-bloomer, but I think I will have flowers on it within two weeks.

The only thing I can think of is the abundance of rain. Lots of things are either blooming or have grown to immense size. I have a hosta plant that is waist high!

If your mum blooms soon, cut off the faded flowers and fertilize it. You might get a second bloom this fall.

Your mum is having an identity crisis.

You see it is a Lilac that was "born" in the body of a mum.

It is now coming out of the closet.

It thinks it is a lilac.

And a late bloomer as well.

(OK that's the best I can do & I was educated as a biologist & horticulturist)

My mums have buds on them, but I pinch them off. You pinch until the 4th of July in Zone 5,, don't know about other zones.

If you want nice busy plants in late August & September, you must do more than pinch the buds, you need to severely pinch back. I do this severe pinching back thing on Asters and Mums.

Also pinched off the buds of a Balloon flower today, just to see how long I can hold that bloom off without damaging the plant.

LOL! I'll pass that on to Chef, and see if it helps my grade. ;>)

The one I baked here at home worked perfectly. I just pulled it out of the oven. It's something at school.

I will take the one I baked tonight to school and let Chef figure it out. If I understood this stuff, I would be teaching the class. ;>)

I'm off to a planning meeting for our 35th h.s. Class Reunion. There are about 25 of us who live nearby. 10 of us will do the planning and organizing, the other 15 won't even show up at the Reunion. I graduated from a class of 150. We have lost about 25,,, the first losses were due to Viet Nam and to car accidents. Later Cancer started picking us off.

We expect about 125 with Spouses. The Reunion is next year. I have plenty of time to go on the Adkins Diet and schedule the Botox.

I'll report in when I return. The planning sessions are far better than the actual reunion. *meow*

Our40th is this summer.

We graduated over1000 in class. Past reunions have been disappointing to me in attendance. Many of us came from across country to attend & most in area chose to stay home.

grrrr

The first ones were painful with man Vietnam deaths...and nowas you mention various disease/conditions have called more to their maker.

Have fun with the planning
