"When you hear the word feminism what do you think?"
This is a tougher question than would first appear to be the case. After all, how could a man be against a woman's advancement in the world based on her merit?
But in point of fact, the experience of most of us (men) in actual contact with actual feminists, has been one of unrelenting hostility toward us based on nothing more than the fact of our maleness.
And so most normal men think (or rather feel) in the presence of a real (not fictional) feminist, uh oh, when does the next gratuitous putdown come? And since hostility evinces counter hostility in people who have not been completely brainwashed, the reaction of most men to the word feminism is negative.
