No, a feminist would beat you over the head for telling such a joke. ;)

Feminism in it's original form is a far cry from what we call feminism today. In it's early days, feminism valued the life-giving and civilising qualities of women, and it played heavily in the reform, abolition, and temperance movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Those early women would be horrified to hear what "feminists" today espouse - for today's "feminists" hate all things female. They devalue the life-giving nature of females, they denigrate the commitment and devotion of family, and they espouse a completely misogynistic viewpoint regarding sex, marriage and abortion. Sex? Do it. Marriage? Forget it. Children? Kill them.

The early feminists celebrated women; today's feminists hate women, and everything that women ever represented. NOW wishes the destruction of women themselves; after all, they espouse the complete erasure of gender, and the wholesale destruction of female preborn children. ,

It is the ultimate irony that early feminists considered homosexuality to be a threat to women's rights by virtue of the devaluation of women as partners in life; now, the biggest supporter of homosexual men are the women of NOW. These so-called feminists of today would be immediately disowned by the true feminists of yesteryear, for they would see them as they are; woman-hating, woman-killing, chauvinistic pigs.

I think that the general battle-ax type feminism degrades women in that it doesn't even allow them to have the same biological rights that men do. Feminism says that women should give up their right to have children for equality. No one suggests that men should do that! Only feminism. It hamstrings women, and denys them their basic rights as women.

In my opinion.

Well, if being female is all about biology, then I'd agree. Fortunately, people aspire. And its realizing their aspirations that paves the way for others. Maybe there's a correlation between the dykes in NOW and women who don't see their wombs as their destiny.

I agree - "feminism" in it's present form tells us that should not have children, that we should not value children, and that we should not want children.

I told my husband one time, after begging him to let me have another child, that it seemed so unfair that I as a woman could want a child so badly and yet be denied one because my husband did not want me to have one. He had some valid points; he was afraid that I would be hurt. But I could help think of how horrified women of previous generations would be to know that women had lost the ability to CHOOSE to HAVE a child...

We are not supposed to want babies. We are not supposed to want marriage. We are not supposed to think like women. We are supposed to make love like men, think like men, work like men. We are not allowed to be women any more.

What do you mean by this?

Sorry kid, I dont 'get' your above point. Care to elaborate?

Whats the problem with simply ignoring such feminists? Are they making laws you must obey?

I agree.

I want kids - eventually. I've dreamed about them, wondered what they will look like, picked out names, picked out clothes. I've taken them from the moment of finding out that I'm pregnant to the moment that I die.

I don't believe every woman should have kids. I don't believe that every woman should want to have kids.

But I don't see the freedom in denying women that dream.

The five best days of my life....

1) Got married (15 years and counting) </ bragging>

2) Son born today.

3) Son born today.

4) Daughter born today. (WOW - we can have those?)

5) Wife said "The heck with taxes, I quit!" Now stays home with the kids.

PS - we have, month-on-month, more take-home pay than when she was working.

I thought a long time about my input, and I believe I'm ready.

I think this joke sums it up:

Q: How many feminists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: THAT'S NOT FUNNY!!

(Thank you. Thank you. I'll be here all week. Try the fish.)

As I heard Rush Limbaugh say one time, feminism is just to ensure that ugly women get the same opportunities as beautiful women.

I know, it's kind of strange. I don't believe that all women want children... but 90% of us do. We still want them, but only secretly. Those desires are to be suppressed; they are illicit, immoral, bad for the earth, infantile, stupid. Say you want a baby, and polite society smirks; say you want several, and polite society will spit upon you.

Far better that you should have illicit sex in the nave of the church than to crave a babe-in-arms; at least you would be considered witty or interesting in the eyes of others. But the woman who longs for children, thirsting for them from the nameless instictive depths, should be mocked. She is only female. She is no better than her mother, or her mother's mother, or any who bore before her...

LOL - so you think it's based on looks?

I'm doing all right and very, very few people have seen my picture! :)

Of course, that could look bad on me...uh-oh...

No - but, as an engineer(fireman, policeman...) married to a much-valued special-ed teacher (15 yrs experience, MS degree), we discovered that we were the "hated rich", and the Alternative Minimum Tax, had she kept working, would actually amount to more than her salary.

So she quit.

I guess it worked for HER.
