first post here, so I'll try not to embarass myself.

I agree with some of what this gentlemen is saying as far as the mass immagration and world government, but some of the labeling I am not for sure about.

I believe in doing things the old way as in forming economic and military treaties with like minded nations, that proved themselves as worthy allies. Just as a thought to me it would be better for us to replace the UN with a League of Democracies. Each potential member would have to meet certain requirements as far as protecting its cizitens' rights and also having an effective military to accommodate the other members(This would be something similar to NATO,except every member would contribute militarily instead of one nation doing all the leg work).

I disagree with the author's notion that opening a market in China is wrong, even though I am split on this. The Etruscans expanded their empire through opening up new markets and exporting there culture and knowledge to the new areas. Even though the Etruscans had a powerfull large army, they never used it to diminish possible threats outside their boundaries. They believed in only defending their boarders. This eventually led to their down fall in being sqaushed between an emerging Rome to the South and the barbaric Celts and Germini to the North.

So dispite having a powerfull economy, the unwillingness to use the army to attack potential threats led to their down fall. In my opinion you need a balance of military strength and economic power to survive.

I completely understand the losing the culture bit. Not only did America have a distinct culture, but also each of the individual states as well. This has change quite a bit. To me the differnece between say a Northern and a Southern is becoming blurry. I understand with ease of transportation that this is bound to happen. But none the less the different cultures have become somewhat bland if not standardize to a national culture and then unto an universal cutlure.

Military power is dependeant not only on economic power in general, but also in some degree of self-reliance.

The simple fact is that we cannot build many of our advanced weapons without parts from Japan, European countries, and even China.
Even barring nuclear weapons, we would have a real problem fighting China. That is a huge constraint.

Likewise, Japan can effectively stop a US led war, by excercising power of the purse. the Japanese could simply refuse to purchase additional US bonds. (Given the rising US-China trade deficit, China will soon have this power as well.)
