What a whiny, self-serving editorial. I haven't heard anyone argue Maines right to free speech - what the author does not realize is that Maines offended a large part of her fan base, quite a different situation than drug-crazed David Crosby speking out against Nixon. Celebrities have every right to speak out, but the media often fails to remind us that their opinions are not worth any more than yours or mine, giving their opinions much more exposure than they deserve.

What is the point in citing the 1st amendment for an act that they do outside of the US? The UK is not sworn to uphold our constitution.

I agree that they should have the right to tell us what they believe: They should just consider that we have the right to tell them what we think, as well. I think that we are.
