Oh that is sad .. My grandmother's father died when she was young and she had to quit school in the second grade to work in the mills to bring home money to help feed her younger siblings ..

They had came over from Germany and somehow ended up in Montana trying to homestead a farm...Even today that part of Montana is more ranching than farming....My Mom was born on the homestead...They didn't make it farming so moved into town and ran a boarding house...The town was mostly Irish and my Mom had a hard time as she only spoke German...lol...Forgot every last word of German she ever knew...There is/was a Catholic Church in town with a cemetary...Of course a Lutheran couldn't be buried there, so the few Protestants were buried way outside of town. In that cemetary the plots are keep up by family...With nobody in the area when I went looking for Granpa's grave it was a stomp around thru knee high weeds...Found it though...
That house in the pics was the back door of the boarding house...It was still standing the last time was over there.....
