These must not be thoroughbred horses, they require
live cover not insemination!

These are harness horses - American Standardbred.
This sort of brou-ha-ha is one of the reasons the Jockey Club still requires both the participants to be present and accounted for . . . I guess letting the young folks have a good time is another.
Plus of course the ever-present risk of fraud. DNA typing has made it a lot harder, but jugged semen is a . . . ahem . . . fertile field for con men.
My current horse used to be a broodmare. She is the easiest horse in the world to load on a trailer - you just open the door and in she goes and stands to be tied, 'cause she's all starry-eyed thinking she may be headed for Romance.

If she wants fresh, she should just come get it herself.

Scotty's & McCoy's voices kept floating through my mind as I read about the 'fresh frozen format' -- "Sorry Capt'n, but she can not take the strain much longer."
"Damn it, Jim. I'm a doctor not a fresh frozen format specialist."

A nice bottle of Merlot, my wife and some "fresh cooled format".
Makes for a nice Friday night.

In Kentucky's Lexington Herald-Leader, Marcy Shatner's attorney, C. Thomas Ezzell, makes the case for "fresh cooled format" versus frozen, saying there is a lower rate of impregnation with the kind you can store next to the ice cubes and Otter Pops. I am never drinking ice water again!
