Today, as I turned my calendar, I discovered that it was May Day and Loyalty Day. I am pretty sick of the glorification of holidays of other nations (Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick's Day, etc.) and decided to do some investigating. I discovered that May Day is a very old Pagen holiday that celebrates the change in seasons. More recently, it is a celebration of the wins achieved by socialist and communist workers of Europe. That doesn't fit for me.

When I looked into "Loyalty Day", I was shocked to discover that it was a national holiday created by our beloved President George W. Bush to allow for a show of appreciation for those that serve our country through their loyalty to it. Now this was a holiday that I could call my own.

What a great holiday. Why isn't this publicized? Mr. Bush would be doing himself a great service to put this up in big lights for all to embrace.

What you can do for me is spread the word. Let's make this one of those great civic holidays that our nation can gather around. Ask everyone you see, "How did you celebrate Loyalty Day?"

You can read all about it on the White House website.
