Whoever wrote this article is not too familiar with German. Wiener means "one from Vienna (Wien)." Wein is wine. So a Weiner dog would be a wine dog, and a Wiener dog would be a Vieenese dog...aw, forget it!

Here's Tess. (AKA Beardo)I love the wire haired look. I know someone who has two wire haired standards. They're great dogs - much more laid back than my mini. Don't know if that's a typical difference between minis and standards or a difference in temperament between wire haired and smooth?
Fiona is still young, though. She'll be two in June, and is finally to the point where she CAN sit still for more than a few seconds now and then...

The coat was bred in from Terriers so they're usually a bit more headstrong. This one is pretty relaxed but I had one that would bark at everything that came into the yard. She was a great dog, but not for everybody.

Principal Skinner: Whoever did this is in very deep trouble.
Martin: And a sloppy speller, too. The preferred spelling of `weiner' is 'wIEner', although E-I is an acceptable ethnic variant.
