And E.D. (or is it Edie?) referred to the upcoming tour as their "Apology Tour".

Well, it looks to me like Natalie has slimmed down. Maybe that _was_ her body in the cover photo. These clothed photos don't look like the chunk she used to be. I dunno.
To: Timesink
Good Point. But does that mean they think if they burn their CD it will cause some kind of decline in the DC revenue? Or maybe it will purge their stereos of some unclean spirit?

(I know - it's just symbolism)

I have a lot of questions that I would ask, and I wouldn't back down from those. But I wouldn't ask them with a lot of attitude. There's no hatred in my heart. Mebbe not...but there's a whole lotta stoopidity in her head.
To: Timesink
When interviewed, the terrrified Dixie Chicks, breathlessly told Dianne Sawyer, their fear of violence at the hands of those...gun nuts... you know those rabid convervative republicans. (sarcasm)

Let me assure you we didn't plan to watch it (didn't even know it was on). Just happened to flip over to it. I hear what you are saying. We were discussing how they were just digging the hole deeper with this thing. And yes, we picked up on the "you don't have the time" comment. Actually, we did think Diane asked some pretty good questions.
Does anyone here get the Mike Evans (sp?) report on their radio? Even he started his Hollywood report with the Michael Jackson, Dixie Chicks shows and how they both came out looking even worse than before.

Well, crushing their CDs certainly got the message across didn't it? At least the Dixie Chicks seemed VERY upset over that useless event.

it looks to me like Natalie slimmed down I think she has...due to having logged on @ the Free Republic, only to inhale all of the "enlarged" images of her planted in these threads by FREEPERS. "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, whose the most defiant of them all?"
To: All
BTW...has anyone else heard about the "anti-Dixie Chick Concert" in S.C.? I heard it mentioned on a radio show (Glen Beck?) but never heard what it really is about. Anyone know what they were talking about?

After enduring the ABC program last night, my conclusion is that the Chicks aren't the brightest of stars. They really didn't apologize for insulting the President of the United States. They were sorry that they aren't being accepted by their fans for just being themselves and "speaking their mind". They are recognized as anti-American entertainers, however.
To: Timesink
As I said on another thread, these chicks just don't get it.
Most of their fans are conservatives who don't accept this sort of thing.
I predict that they'll end up, at best, a cult act with little fan base.

The "anti-Dixie Chick" concert is being held in Greenville, SC on May 1, the same night as the Dixie Chicks concert at the Bi-Lo auditorium. The "anti" concert features the Marshall Tucker Band and some other talent. Those holding Dixie Chick tickets will be admitted to a VIP section for free, and be allowed to visit with the entertainers.

I saw absolutely no remorse. ONLY DEFIANCE With mucho crocodile tears, Maines mourned... If you don't like who I am, I'm not going to change.
Sounds defiant to me. Just like when she was a little girl, according to her sisters, and when "Dad" would say, "Natalie, not one more note" she would look straight at Dad defiantly and play it.
Of course, one of her sisters has sounded like they've only reinforced that all of her life, saying in the interview: It's a beautiful thing to be uninhibited. We don't want it to break her spirit.
Maines: And I like who I am. I do believe we're role models and that's what I want young impressionable girls to hear and walk away with.
Oh, you mean, Natalie, the impression that it's OK to pose nude for mag covers (even if it is a body double) & that it's OK to flaunt your body for the sake of a career boost in a time of crisis?
And note this excerpt about Maines from Launch News (4/4), as reported by Margy Holland out of Nashville:
Maines, however, has reacted more flippantly to the situation, according to reports. The singer said, 'The more flack I get for it, the prouder I am.'
And Google News today (4/25): People think this'll scare us and shut us up and it's gonna do the opposite. They just served themselves a huge headache.

travelin soldier is about something sad that happened to 2 young Americans during the vietnam war in rural America.
It sold because it painted a sad picture of Vietnam not a straight-down-the-middle picture. It sold because it appealed to the patriotism and reminiscence of conservative fans who support the President. But if they (the chiklets) say so, the song is worthless to me. And I feel like they tricked me.

The Dixie Chicks seemed VERY upset over that useless event I noticed that when ABC played the Brett Butler excerpt (that this would all blow over in a few weeks & all would be forgiven), that as soon as the chorus of boos began, ABC cut away from it. A nice "puff piece" indicator. Good hour-long free commercial, ABC!
To: TommyDale
Thank you! I was telling my husband that is how I would work it. That way, the tickets don't get sold to someone else. I think it would be great if they show up to a sold out concert with a mostly empty audience! I don't want folks to return their tickets because there are others that would pay to get them. This sounds like a really good idea!

It's not about the nakedness. It's that the clothes got in the way of the labels. Then, why did they talk to Diane Sawyer with their clothes on?
To: Sloth
Diane Sawyer also screwed Free Republic; I saw most of the interview, and they didn't even give us one freepin' ounce of credit for all that we have done!
