AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 825) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | April 25, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 04/25/2003 4:30:01 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

The BBC has criticized American networks for their "Gung Ho" coverage of the War Against Iraq.

The World Health Organization travel restrictions to certain areas - Canada, Vietnam, and Hong Kong - are likely to be eased over the next few weeks. The reason, according to a senior WHO official, is the world will learn "to live with the [SARS] virus."

Meanwhile, Communist Party officials still say the SARS caseload in Shanghai is still a "state secret."

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

In Philly, you gotta sell the soft pretzels at intersections in brown paper bags after you make them...;-)

Our pretzels aren't ready for the big time yet. they were pretty ugly. But they sure tasted good.

Tonight is girls' night out, so I get to cook whatever I want. I found shrimp on sale. Hot and spicy broiled shrimp, shrimp battered in wasabi/beer tempura, and shrimp sushi.

I also got a great deal on a whole 12 lb top sirloin for $1.99/lb. that should make about 20ea 8 oz sirloins. That's about a buck a steak, plus 2 lbs of ground sirloin for burgers. And all I gotta do is cut it up. (now that I know how) ;>)

Hi everyone!

Just got back to the office after a full day. I see kay has already told you of our lunch together. What a couple! All y'allses (that's s'uth'n talk) would love them to death. We had such a great time together... too bad we left it 'til the last few days... and...

we talked about y'all... hope your ears were burning. The hour and a half went by like 5 minutes. I couldn't believe it when we made moves to leave the table and I looked at my watch. Actually we both got to the Olive Garden about 15 minutes early so we had an hour and 45 minutes together.

Guennie... we did speak of me having lunch with you and King Arthur (play on words)... we'll have to meet at the Dixie Crossroads or some such place. Haven't been there in a long time.

Molly... God is already beginning to give direction. I must ensure I interpret them correctly and follow closely.

John... so glad to hear your burden has been lifted... and

Dog... thanks for the delightful pic of the girls running to meet one of their "liberators".

isb... we miss you!

You're a great bunch of friends... love you all... lots!

I'm having too much fun with the "privacy" idiots. Senator Santorum has done the nation a great service by getting them jumping out their pantyhose. Typically, they want it both ways: they want the government out of their bedrooms, and they want their bedrooms in ours. Conservatives get slammed for "moralizing in law." Let's see, are we the ones who kick kids out of school for calling each other "stupid"? Are we the ones who have criminalized opinion with "hate crimes" laws? Are we the ones who impose sexuality in education and law?

What they won't admit is that theirs is a moral code just as is ours. They can't do it, because it would mean admitting that their values are not absolute. They moralize more than we do, the difference being in definitions of morality, not morality itself. My dictionary defines "moral" in the adjective form as "concerned with right conduct or its principles." PC anyone? Even in the absence of morality lies a moral structure. When they tear up our morals they are merely creating their own. I have the same complaint about the God haters. When they tell us to get God out of the classroom it is not an absence of religion they demand. They are merely imposing their own religion on us.

We've got popular culture running scared. They are insane with fright. It all started in late January of 2001 with a certain magnificent, historical inaugural address.

-----

Hanson's notice of popular culture shows how this is happening. We can't roll back the clock, but we can adopt things past to make the now better. The military is discipline, the very opposite of popular culture. These kids don't have to lose their interest in the movies or music to be good soldiers. They do have to reject the message, or, at a minimum, submit it to a larger set of principles. That said, vice and virtue have ever run hand-in-hand in the military.

Society as a whole is learning the lesson.

Thanks for checking out the Armored Cars show -- I appreciate also your bumps of the thread I ran on it. After working with the History Chan. Modern Marvels folks, I'm very impressed with what they do. What a great job -- they spend six months learning all they can about one subject, then move on to another. It's hard work. For example, my interview went three hours, from which they culled maybe 3-5 minutes of useful tape. In the Armored Cars show, I think we interviewed only 20 minutes. It was too damned cold to go longer. It would have been better had we spent more time. Also, they inserted it at the last minute. I'm sure it showed.

Anyway, I'm glad you had fun with it. I'm not sure there'll be much to do with Taft in this manner. I'm hoping for an entire documentary on him, but it's a tough sale.

I've been meaning to run a "See I told you so... and I was wrong" notice. During the War, I insisted that we wouldn't find Iraqi WMD until after the firing stopped. I assumed that we had already found it, and that we didn't want it made public because that would only give the Iraqis an excuse to use it. If we shouted "see! see!" they'd have nothing left to hide, or to lose.

It seems now that we truly haven't found any. I still wonder, though. I'd think any sites we knew about in advance were taken out by air or Spec. Ops. One of the great benefits of the rush to Baghdad was that it kept the Iraqis so off balance that they couldn't do anything, much less harness their WMD. We'll see if they were able to destroy the evidence. The President has told us they didn't get rid of it all.

I was reading something today on another site that speculated the plan Tommy Frank crafted to oust Saddam was modeled after MacArthur's island hopping of WWII ..

What do you think??

Personally, from a military perspective, I find it closer to the assault of Germany's Army Group North against the Russians in 1941. But that's just my opinion.

I watched Fox and Friends briefly the other morning. They had that Ellis Hennican guy on (or Ellis Pelical as he is known at my house.) He is really annoying, and as soon as I saw him, I turned the channel.
