See http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/primetime/Entertainment/dixiechicks030423.html for text of the interview.
It was Clinton-like in its patronizing dishonesty and incredible narcissism.
In so many words: "We said we 'support the troops' (code for "we just hope they get defeated", but we'll pass over that because it's bad for record sales) - why are all these extremists unfairly picking on us?"
This ought to rank up there with Connie Chung's interview of Gary Condit as a rehabilitation attempt which backfired. They came across as really loathesome.

I thought they were joking about the NUDE appearance with tatto's on the magazine cover.
I guess that they have decided to switch over completely to the dark side.

Congrats on your guts to watch it and post a report. Thanks!

I sadly caught some of the pathetic show..somehow abc portrayed those opposing the girls as uneducated southern bigots..abc sure did their best to help them..

When I saw the pig Chick start crying, I thought someone had stolen her Double Whopper.

I watched the last half of it. When Diane asked Natalie what she'd say to the President if he were watching, Natalie paused and said "there's not enough time" [to say what she'd like to say!].

I watched a few parts of it and just about puked when Diane Sawyer said they are really Hollywood liberals. I seriously doubt they will ever be big in country music again.

The little fat Natalie is sure
stupid.I mean, box-of-rocks stupid.
But there were no apologies.
Even my wife, who's been giving them the benefit of the doubt, said "they've cooked their goose with this crap."

I watched it because I was curious. It didn't change my mind about them. Natalie offered another non-apology: "This is who I am, and I'm proud. If you don't like it you are a closed-minded red-neck. Oh, did I mention I'm sorry? Now go out and buy my CD and prove you're not a closed-minded red-neck!"
I couldn't help thinking about that Saturday night live skit: "I'm smart enough, I'm funny enough, and, gosh darnit, I like me and people like me!" or something like that.

"why are all these extremists unfairly picking on us?"
Well, there's one example of how clueless they are. THEY are the extremists, and nothing that has been done to them is the least bit unfair.

PA..THET...IC!
Can't they just SHUT UP??!!??
To: pttttt
A careful choice of words. "extremists" are "picking" on them. Not "Americans are rightfully criticizing them." Of course they are blameless. They have done nothing. Well, maybe a little disrespect for their President and their country. But in their view it's minor. It's just that, in the view of others, it's not.

Yep, but Natalie LIKES herself - she said so!!
