Source: The Washington Times -- "The Dixie Chicks have taken a big hit lately for exercising their basic right to express themselves," said singer Bruce Springsteen in a statement yesterday. "They're terrific American artists expressing American values by using their American right to free speech."

The anti-Chicks boycott is "un-American," Mr. Springsteen said. "The pressure coming from the government and big business to enforce conformity of thought concerning the war and politics goes against everything that this country is about — namely freedom."

The "Boss" is clueless. This is a fan revolt. Neither government nor big business have anything to do with it. If anything, big business (i.e. Viacom, Disney, etc.) are doing damage control to help them out.

Entertainment Weekly on Thursday released next week's cover in which the Grammy-winning performers wear only contradictory slogans painted on their bodies, including "Traitors," "Saddam's Angels," "Dixie Sluts," and "Proud Americans."

I don't remember hearing anybody calling them ""Saddam's Angels" or "Dixie Sluts." And I noticed they didn't include what they've really been called -- variations on their name like Blixie/Vichy/Ditsy Chicks.

Yes, I know it's been retouched.

What? To remove all the armpit and leg hair?

And that is absolutely not Natalie's body. Her head is pasted on at the clavicle bone. To a trained eye, that's clear at normal size, but zoom in and it's obvious to anyone

Thanks for pointing that out. When I heard about this on the radio yesterday, I thought, why would they take their clothes off? I mean really now, just because you have blonde hair does not guarantee you a second look, and since it's not her body, now she really deserves to get pummelled in the press. LOL

Going nekked in the music industry is the last act of a desperate group. It's also, I'm guessing, some lame attempt at 'remarketing' the group as some sort of liberated, alternative to 'traditional country'. If so, their attempt will fail. Maines comments have destroyed this group.

They need to take some lessons from Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac...

Illume (9-11)

Illume says a candle that I burn
a reflection in the window
all the way to Point Dume
Illume -like it dances
I'm a cliff dweller
from the Old School

I like the coastal cities
I like the lights...

I like the way the ocean blends
into the city at night
It's like living on a working river
The coastline is glittering
Like a diamond snake
in a black sky

I'm alone now
with my thoughts
of how we could make it
of how we could get out
What we've been through
all of the trauma
The smell of Nag Champra
Shadow of a stranger

I will not take you for granted
I wouldn't trade you for jade or for diamonds
Not for one minute
Not for anything
I need you to be there
Just remember when I am haunted
That I was just so scared

I'm alone now
with my thoughts
of how we could make it
of how we could get out
What we've been through
all of the trauma
The smell of Nag Champra
Shadow of a stranger

What I saw on this journey
I saw history go down
I cannot pretend
that the heartache falls away
It's just like a river
It's never ending
I cannot pretend
that the heartache falls away...

It's just like a river
It's never ending...

What I saw on this journey
Is what legends are made of
I cannot pretend
That the heartache falls away...
Just like a river
It's never ending
I cannot pretend
That the heartache falls away...

The only problem is that in the ensuing year-and-a-half Fleetwood Mac has also released Peacekeeper

Do you know for sure that song is anti-war or anti US?

If I see it while standing in line at the grocery I will turn it around so the back cover is displayed.

Then Natalie's butt would be front and center for all to see . . .

YEEEEEECH!

We make all of our suns the same

Every one will suffer the fire we've made

No, I don't know for sure. Don't follow Fleetwood Mac that much.

Would you please refrain from calling me
'sweetie.' I'm far from being sweet.
