Congratulations!
LOL! That would be me. :)
Morally Repugnant
As an experienced irrigation engineer, I have been approached to provide technical assistance for the rehabilitation of irrigation systems in Iraq. I am torn between my desire to assist the people of Iraq and my anger over our government having permitted, even encouraged, the destruction and sacking of the Ministry of Irrigation in Baghdad. The occupying forces allowed the destruction of this and other ministries with important archives of information needed for rehabilitating Iraq's infrastructure.
The looting and torching of the Iraq National Antiquities Museum has received coverage in the press. However, there is little mention or condemnation of the destruction of technical information needed for the infrastructure upon which Iraqi society depends.
Destroying the records of water flows, land classification and ownership, topographic maps, etc., constitutes a crime and an irreplaceable loss. Knowing that my own government saw fit to protect only the oil and interior ministries makes me wonder: Was this allowed so companies favored by Washington could profit by spending Iraq's oil revenues and our taxes to replace what was destroyed?
In spite of my desire to help relieve suffering in Iraq, I have reluctantly turned down this request to assist. It is too morally repugnant to participate in legitimizing the perpetrators of a war I feel was neither justified nor legal, and an occupation that has demonstrated wanton disregard for the foundations of civilization and freedom.

Blech, this guy thinks he is morally superior to the rest of us. I think I am going to write a letter to the editor and ask Mr Keller why he is punishing the people of Iraq by not lending his expertise. And he isn't up on his information, Saddam Hussein is the one who upset the environment and water flow there by draining swamps, and altering rivers. Typical of liberals to blame America for all ills.
OOOOOOOOHHHHHH you like the hard stuff lemonade....:-)
Howdy Ma'am!
The boys are doing well. We are going to transfer them out of their school BEFORE the end of the year (it's a looooooonnnngggggg story), so I've been busy bonking people over the head at their current school.
I am starting on a whole new adventure and although I am a little nervous about it, it should be a hoot. A friend of mine told me that I should do an "Open Mic" night at a comedy club (this was after I went to that dinner at the Olive Garden, remember?). Well, she kept bugging me about it and then everyone was bugging me about it, so I told them "If you can find a comedy club in Lakeland that has an "Open Mic" night, I'll do it." Being the smarty-pants that I am, I had already checked and of the 2 comedy clubs we do have, none of them had an open mic night. Ha, I thought to myself. Guess what? My friend wouldn't give up, and she called me today and told me that the "Coconuts Comedy Club" just started a new thing: they have a feature act before the Headliner, and anyone can do it, they just have to call the Wednesday before (they do the shows on Saturday nights) and let them know your name, blah blah blah. They give you 10 minutes (that's a LOT of minutes!!!!) as the feature act. So, since I told her I would, now I am and I am going to do it on May 10th. Lord help me. Lord help everyone. I'm a little nervous, but the only thing I have to lose is my dignity, my stature, my....(just kidding). There's only 2 possible outcomes: I will be okay, or I will stink. At least I can say "I tried". You only live once, so why not?
Did I tell you that Mark has finessed the art of doing CARTWHEELS off the diving board???? Ack!
What is up with Shepard Smith? All of the sudden everyone is gushing over him...puke. Jane Skinner might have well just kissed his feet today...and Greta has a crush on him too. Gross. I mean, he's cute, in a squirreliy kinda way, but he's no George W. Bush. ;-)
