Word For The Day, Tuesday, 4/08/03
4/08/03
Posted on 04/08/2003 12:54:28 AM PDT by Bella_Bru
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Do you have a word you'd like to see used? Freepmail me, and if it has not been used in a while, I will add it to our list.
Do you have a birthday coming up? Please FReepmail me with the date and I will make a special birthday thread for you!
eclat\E*clat"\; noun:
1. Great brilliance, as of performance or achievement.
2. Conspicuous success.
3. Great acclamation or applause.
Etymology: French, brilliance, from Old French esclat, splinter, from esclater, to burst out, splinter, probably of Germanic origin.
Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!
Here is my example with WFTD.
Allow me to be the first on this thread to say I know the Orangemen will be greeted with great eclat upon their return to the 'Cuse. :-)

I think he'll tell us......but only in front of XS, probably until he is referred to as both disgusting and a snot. :)

okay vast, you ready for your small bag of $hit??? to the bitter end you dissed SU, with your smarmy little " oh happy for you, xs, but i have the feeling Kansas will win it????" You and grimmy better be eating serious crow here. Kansas' vaunted fast break offense was no match for the 2-3 zone, well, i guess it might have been had they been able to BUY A FREE THROW!!! it was a great game, the xsfamily is very happy!

Actually, Kansas did rather well against the 2-3.
It was their horrid foul shooting that cost them.
Their trips to the line were a result of the ability to penetrate.....I am shocked you didnt catch that given your general level of interest in penetrating a soft zone....

they did OK against the zone, not great. and they were also held outside by SU and weren't able to match the 3 pt shots that SU was making. Carmelo Anthony did not play to his potential last night, bc of his back. it is amazing SU was able to hold onto the lead w/o him.

Oh good grief, don't hassle the poor woman.
She's real tryin' to pass her latest bar exam (last time, she lost points when they asked her for the recipe for a chilled glass of white house wine.)
See, she wants an entry level position and then a rising job at the other law firm in town.

Ya know, Sire Hobby of the Furry Cats Clan, I'd reallllly like to know how she found out what was tattooted way up that guy's pants leg and all.
(But I'm shy and humble, and so I won't ask what xsex was doin' on the airplane under her blankie's that flight...)

Didn't get much eclat[3] for my long hours of work last night preparing
this for publication. But then it wasn't my best work either...
(Just another set of rally photos, with the full set here -- and maybe another set tonight, right from the heart of downtown Carnation -- of the milk fame.)

Well, the stinking, rotting corpse of Saddam Hussein still has not been found......so it is STILL possible that he will make his appearance at the Bastille Day Parade.
Congrats to SU on its first-ever NCAA title.
To: Eala
well today and tomorrow it is going to be in the mid-4os for a high. I cannot possibly tell you what it will be like in 2.5 weeks, Eala, bc this is uncharacteristically cold for this time of year and it was pretty warm when we left for N.O. i will keep you apprised though as the time for your trip approaches.
