These are jobs that are never ever coming back. This is called the systematic de-industrializing of America. I am wondering if anyone knows the most effective way to get your congressional rep to hold a town meeting. I am from the Save American Manufacturing Initiative, and we want trade policy changed in regards to China. For 39 straight months the manufacturing sector has sustained major job losses, due to outsourcing mainly to China, and there are no middle-class jobs left to replace them. I am going to meet with my Rep later this month. He is a major free-trade advocate (not really fair trade advocate, obviously) and his excuse is the farmers. I listen to the Ag report almost daily, and farmers are still not happy with trade policy and still want more subsidies. Last time I checked, the farmers were supposed to totally make out over their exporting capabilities, because of PNTR, and because they want to feed 1/5 of the world's population. The results are not impressive. I have quite a case that I am making to my Rep. Our organization is very new, but within 10 weeks, we have 7 state chapters, unions and non-unions alike, and every company I have tried to contact in my area (and there are many Manufacturers) is extremely receptive to what we are about, and are eager to help. I know I will have over 1600 people at this meeting if I could get him to say yes. How do you all get meetings to go on... or have you? If you have any tips I would really appreciate it.

I can't help you, Josette. But God bless your effort. I regularly contact my homeboys on these issues and they give me rhetoric and doubletalk back. They all support Free Trade because big business supports free trade. It's also the reason they won't do anything about our borders...their handlers want that cheap, illegal labor.
