I understand that some guided missles will stay close to the earth and then spike up before plunging down to their targets. The smoke path of the missles that look like they come from Baghdad may merely look like they originate from horizon.

I understand that some guided missles will stay close to the earth and then spike up before plunging down to their targets. The smoke path of the missles that look like they come from Baghdad may merely look like they originate from horizon. What I think we see there are some pretty big missiles, SCUDs maybe, touched off by our attack. They originate closeby since they are still under power and not just flying in the final ballistic phase of flight. The sharp turns mean they are flying slow. The apparent width of the plume seems fairly constant so all of it was about the same distance from the camera
