Yep, it looks like some sort of missile battery was hit and some of the rockets lit up and flew. The heavy smoke plumes on each proves that these rockets were local in origin. They look like they are in the initial boost stage of flight, traveling slow enough to abruptly change direction as they fly without guidance.
Any missile the size of those is meant to arrive on target via ballistics after the burn is well over. I'm thinking SCUDs rather than SAMs.

I understand that some guided missles will stay close to the earth and then spike up before plunging down to their targets. The smoke path of the missles that look like they come from Baghdad may merely look like they originate from horizon. What I think we see there are some pretty big missiles, SCUDs maybe, touched off by our attack. They originate closeby since they are still under power and not just flying in the final ballistic phase of flight. The sharp turns mean they are flying slow. The apparent width of the plume seems fairly constant so all of it was about the same distance from the camera

Thanks for the ping! I suspect our experts are looking at all these images closely. Solid propellants can be unpredictable - I'm aware of components that have been accidentally dropped without incident but in other cases, a small electrostatic discharge caused them to ignite.

I thought the same things when isaw theis pic on TV. Clearly those trails are from the ground.

Looks to me they are completely screwed up with their missile defense system in Baghdad YUP looks that way to me too.
