I agree. It is also interesting that many of the journalists (with Fox, at least) had SOME military training. This is key, and many of the journalists back in the studios are just morons who have no clue what it is like to fight a real war.
I'll be honest--I was 4F in Vietnam! But I KNOW I don't know how to "fight a real war," and that's the difference!
LS,
Great analysis.
I had been thinking through a similar scenario, but wondered about supply lines from the Hashemite Kingdom. (I note that the King of Jordan is actually 1/2 American). BUT...** Did you know the concept of the Marine Expeditionary Force is that they move with everything they need for 60 days?
About the IIMEF (40,000 strong with armor, artillery, intel, support and Air Wing). Look at this TO&E. (order of battle) at this site:
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/iraq_orbat_toe.htm and note that only the HQ unit of IIMEF is 'on the board'. (location unknown). The rest is 'in theater' location unknown.
This should get interesting.
Also, a little irony. In GWI most of the marines were aboard ships as a feint.
This time they get to play... big time.
