Idle Press is the Liberal Playground

Specifically with this war and the embedded reporters, the media has enough material to actually keep it busy. I noted in the past that the downfall in the media was the advent of 24 hour news stations. Before the 24 hour news stations, the media was stuck with the 5:00 and 10:00 news hours, the facts were reported and they had little time for anything else. With the 24 hour news stations, during times of peace or times of little information, they spend the majority of the time editorializing. It is during this editorializing that they stray from neutral journalism and bias to the left. The embedded journalist program is really a stroke of brilliance. The most liberal news stations are so busy WOWing their audiences with the images from our heroic troops that they have little, if any, time to pay heed to ignorant protesters.

Yesterday in the car I was talking to a friend and I came up with the statement “An Idle Press is the Liberal Playground” I think this sums it up. I say embed them, befriend them, keep them busy and use them to spread the good news of our troops and their heroism!

I pretty much disagree. I think the three major networks were just as biased before 24 hour news. I also think NBC/CBS/ABC are currently more liberally biased in their "news" than the average of MSNBC, FOX, and CNN in thier news and edtitorial content combined.

I agree.
There is nothing more dangerous than a media with nothing to report. That's when they start creating stories and picking and choosing the "news." It's an easy trap to fall into as a reporter to let their own subjectivity determine which stories are printed.

You are right. I hope this creates a whole new breed of media who has been out in the real world and will come back into the organization and as they progress in their careers educate their peers. This is different from sitting at HQ and getting stories at the bar. These embeded reporters are out their with the grunts risking their lives right along side the soldiers. Operational security is in their best interest. If Iraqis are pretending to surrender then firing these reporters will recognize the danger first hand and be more reasonable in their analysis. I think overall it is a good thing.
