"Battle Hymn of the Republic" by Elvis Presley. From the "Aloha from Hawaii" live-in-concert album. Backed by a full orchestra, and Elvis's thundering voice, this song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. The arrangement is fantastic.

Although not a big Elvis fan (I was slightly too young to appreciate him at the time), this is probably the best solo performance of this song - IMO. I do like the MoTab Choir's version for a group performance.

That's part of what is known as "The American Trilogy". You're right about his vocals, they dominate. I've heard other renditions of it but nobody does it like EP. A few othe songs I think are appropriate are the hymns from each of the armed services. They definitely dominate, much as the USA will do in Iraq and other places.
