In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Teacher's note:
Please help me welcome Lunatic Fringe to our class! Also, due to the fact that I missed class yesterday, you will all recieve A's.
palaver\puh-LAV-ur; puh-LAH-vur\, noun:
palaver, intransitive verb, transitive verb
1.Talk; conversation; especially: a. idle talk b. talk intended to beguile or deceive.
2. A parley usually between persons of different backgrounds or cultures or levels of sophistication; a talk; hence, a public conference and deliberation.
Other forms:
intransitive verb:
To use palaver; to talk idly.
transitive verb:
To use palaver to; to flatter; to cajole.
[H]e is glad to palaver of his many adventures, as a boy will whistle after sundown in a wood. --O. Henry, "The Man Higher Up"
Etymology: Palaver derives from Late Latin parabola, a proverb, a parable, from Greek parabole, from paraballein, to compare, from para-, beside + ballein, to throw. In Medieval Latin, parabola acquired the further senses 'word' and 'tale, story', whence Portuguese palavra (compare Spanish palabra, word), whence palaver , with its own new, naturally derivative senses.

Actually, what I saw, was him squirming a bit as the question regarding his comments was put to him.
I love Ted, and being a Business man, and Entrepeneur I think he would probably be a fine Governor.....
I really loved when he pointed out the 20 MILLION hot meals that the various Coalitions of Killers have fed the Homeless......
Odd, isn't it while the left is trying to line up large amounts of venture Capital to p!$$ down the toilet, for what will be a very shortlived radio campaign arm (which is why they will launch this fall, to coincide their failure with Bush's re-election), Ted, and his like minded compatriots are feeding 20 million hot meals to the homeless...

Ted Nugent was marvelous. Governorship of Michigan would be wonderful, but he may be just a tad bit outspoken.
What was his line? "Every time PETA gives me a rough time, I go out and shoot 12 more things." I fell over laughing. I still have my photo of him.

Thank you, CJ. The crocus. They come in almost all colors. They will actually come up through your grass to show their colors. I've always loved those.

I love snowdrops, too. They're only in white, right? CJ had it right about the crocus. They always gave me hope that spring was around the corner when I was growing up.
