Another Miller Lite coming up.
I can understand about the sheep and especially the chickens.
We had to break a dog of ours, years ago, of killing chickens.
Hung one that he had killed around his neck for about a week and he never touched another one.

Just another Joe
(The martini of course. Not the bar maid.)

My grandparents, who were ranchers in the hill country had a beautiful red Chow who protected us and the house. However, my grandfather broke him of the chicken killing habit the same way you describe. All of us kids felt sorry for the poor dog, but it worked like a charm. That dog lived to a great age (15) for that day and time (mid 50's). My husband and I had a black Chow who had a long and happy life of over 17 years. I think they live a long time because they are basically lazy. They jump up and bark at intruders, chase them if the need arises, and sleep the rest of the day-sort of like our rescued Persian cat, who chases and kills a mouse or rat three or four times each winter, and hangs out, sleeping on our bed and eating for the rest of the year.
