Word For The Day 12/24/02
12/24/02
Posted on 12/24/2002 12:35:35 AM PST by Bella_Bru
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Important teacher's notes:
There will be no school tomorrow. Class will resume on Thursday.
If you want to be on the WFTD Ping List, please let me know. I will be taking names all week and adding them to my new list. I scrapped the old list because of concerns raised on a thread about people be adding to lists without asking to be. Thank you for understanding.
And now for today's word....
jocund \JOCK-und; JOE-kund\, adjective:
Full of or expressing high-spirited merriment; light-hearted; pleasant, cheering, delightful
Etymology: Jocund is from Old French jocond, from Latin jucundus, pleasant, agreeable, delightful, from juvo, juvare, to please, to delight.
Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

I didn't do a LOT of shopping, but I am cooking! LOL, I have a new stove - what better way to break it in? (Someday, the cabinets will be done, and I'll be able to find things again.....)

Anything that holds still long enough for me to pop it into the oven. LOL, it's a good thing the dogs get active in the cold weather.

Ham here as well - I picked mine up last week!!!! The only major cooking I will do is augratin potatoes.
Minimum of muss and fuss.
I just chased hubby out of the house - maybe now I can do something with out his ever prying eyes and presence.
Sheesh what is it with men????
he actually looked me straight in the eye this morning and said - "If you want to get me something for christmas, I really need a new wallet."
My response was that he is the notorious Christmas eve shopper, not I - except for one other item for his sister, I finished last week.

WHOOPS on Me! That was in response to your baking prowess. I didn't preview too well. It just goes to show what happens when I assume I know what I am doing.
