My mother-in-law grew up during the depression on a farm. In that mindset you didn't throw anything out. She's never met a margerine container she could part with.
My wife is the executor. She has already warned her siblings that she will be hard-nosed about this. There are a few things my m-i-l will give to family members (or anyone she chooses). Beyond that, if there's something they want, they'll have to pay for it.
And, quite frankly, because we know we'll never see a dime from them to help take care or her, we could care less if they get pissed off.
