Neighbor,

We looked hard for it, but we did not hear it. Unless there are different cuts of this film out here, Jackson left a plot hole by failing to reveal just how Faramir comes to know that his brother has died.

Then again, no one else seems to have noticed on their own account. My wife never did, and she has never read the books - so I expected that she might wonder about it.

It's a small cavil.

I didn't hear it either. Also, I missed hearing Aragorn and company asking Gandalf about Merry and Pippin.

Oh yeah, and I liked the part where the orc brought the candle over to inspect Saruman's...er...handiwork and Saruman had to shoo him away. I guess he hadn't distributed his Material Safety Data Sheet yet. :)

I bet they cover it in the next movie...I bet it's part of a flashback in the ROTK.

The idea that Faramir didn't SAY how he knew Boromir was dead is something people might wonder about, but it isn't so much a hole in the plot as it is one of those things that was unexplained... something else that might have happened off-screen. Leaving something unexplained doesn't help the newbie, but it doesn't hurt those who know... Frodo didn't ask how he knew, so he didn't say. I bet the conversation was scripted, and I bet it makes the extended cut.

Iguana my mind probably filled in where I knew the answer. However, this really does show that I am in need of another viewing. LOL It would be lovely to get to do that today or tomorrow. I'm off for Christmas break and don't leave town to go home until Saturday. I really should fill my time with something other than having an unruly teenager to deal with.
